The basic process on making an DIY knit pattern.



Getting started with something; I am starting with my works.

Here below the process on a DIY knit pattern is explained very quickly.

Mentioning in the first article i am an knitwear designer also means i create DIY patterns which crafters can download from Ravelry and later on from this blog also, to knit by them self ; here is an example :

The amount of work going into one of these is much more than most people imagine. It includes the design process, draft, knitting up a full sized example in atleast one size , calculating sizes if there are more than one , write up the pattern line for line (in all sizes) and make graphic charts for it as well, putting it all into a PDF file , have sample photographed and then  have the pattern test knit in all sizes applicable by more than one person, before it finally can be published.

Sounds simple ? Well, it is more time consuming than it is complicated, and then the sizes part needs a decent mathematics skill.
