Good morning , A new day, a new blog.
A designers work can be as variated as the days of the seasons.
A good designer eventually learns something new about the trade every session. It can be a matter of perspective or just a new technique. Anything new that can be used later to create something.
All design involves a lot of brainstorming and sketching. Sketches done do not always end up as clothing or accessories, they might as well go into the "draft-bank" and be repurposed later into something else.
Not all of it is even "catwalk material" ,
Knitwear for example does not often end up in fashion shows to be noticed by the media, There might be the occational accessories that are not always even hand made .
Machine knit is also a "thing" and produces results much faster than anything done by hand . Therefore it is also suitable to mass produce a lot of identical things .
On the other hand , knitting by hand is a rewarding process that can even be meditative in itself. Letting the mind roam free for more ideas or just to solve upcoming problems.
The hand knit items are much more personal as there are not many made the same way. Different types of yarn and colors affect that part mostly. Two persons knitting up the same pattern will most probably have two very different and very unique results.
Enough for now, I will probably cover the non-knit designing in another article later when i have time ;)
Have a fantastic day ;
Nina
